7 Tips for Radiant Skin

Acupuncture

  1. Drink clean filtered water. Being dehydrated causes the skin to look dull, increases the appearance of wrinkles, and can delay healing time. Drinking unsweetened coconut water is a natural source for adding electrolytes and restoring hydration.
  2. Eat colourful foods.  Fruits and vegetables that are naturally colourful (berries, carrots, broccoli) contain antioxidants and phytochemicals that protect your skin from harmful free radical damage caused by chemicals in food, water, and air.
  3. Fish oil, flaxseed and borage oil are necessary for smooth, supple skin. These oils help to stabilize cell membranes in skin tissue, making it less reactive to irritants.
  4. Zinc helps reverse skin damage and builds healthy new skin cells. Found in whole grains, pumpkin seeds and seafood.
  5. Vitamin C is necessary for collagen production. Common sources are found in colourful vegetables, berries, onions and whole grains (buckwheat, brown, red or black rice).
  6. Eliminate refined sugars and carbohydrates. Sugar contributes to overall inflammation, disrupts hormone levels and increases bacteria and yeasts in the gut. Thereby creating toxins and increasing inflammation further.
  7. Adopt relaxation rituals. Such as nature walks, daily deep breathing, meditation, or yoga. Regularly sitting in a sauna followed by a cool shower can be very cleansing to the skin. All of these help improve circulation, detoxification and stress release.

Skin ailments could be the result of a number of clinical conditions. Such as undetected food sensitivities, undiagnosed or insufficiently treated Hypothyroidism and PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).

Encourage and maintain your radiant skin by seeing a Registered Acupuncturist. Acupuncture can be a highly effective treatment to help a number of skin conditions such as eczema, acne, and psoriasis. In addition to skin conditions, Acupuncture treats hormonal imbalances, digestive complaints, pain, and much more.
