What to Expect at an Osteopathy Appointment
At your osteopathy appointment, Tamara uses gentle, hands-on manual therapy techniques tailored to your body’s needs, including:
- Myofascial release
- Muscle energy techniques
- Craniosacral therapy
- Joint and bony adjustments
Osteopathy focuses on identifying and treating the root cause of pain or dysfunction—not just the symptoms. Treatment works to:
- Restore joint mobility
- Improve circulation (blood and lymph flow)
- Support the nervous system
- Release tension caused by stress, injury, or chronic patterns
The goal is to support your body’s natural ability to heal, regulate, and function optimally, so you can move more freely and feel your best.
Who Can Benefit from Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is suitable for people of all ages, as long as you are cleared for manual therapy by your healthcare provider.
Common conditions treated include:
- Chronic pain and muscular tension
- Acute injuries
- Sports injuries and motor vehicle accidents (MVA)
- Migraines and headaches

Whether you’re seeking relief from pain or preventative care, osteopathy supports overall wellness.
How Does Osteopathy Work?
Osteopathy works by supporting the body’s natural healing mechanisms.
While the osteopathic practitioner applies precise manual techniques to release restrictions and restore balance, the body itself does the healing. Treatment helps reset the system, and your body continues to respond and improve in the days following your session.
Principles of Osteopathy
Osteopathy is guided by four core principles:
1. The Body is a Dynamic Unit
The body functions as an interconnected whole. Osteopathic treatment addresses the entire body rather than isolating symptoms.
2. Mind, Body, and Spirit are Connected
Osteopathy recognizes the relationship between physical health and mental, emotional, and environmental factors.
3. The Body is Self-Healing
The body has an innate ability to heal and self-regulate. Osteopathy helps remove barriers to this natural process.
4. Structure and Function are Interrelated
The structure of the body directly impacts how it functions. Proper alignment supports optimal health. As Dr. A.T. Still, founder of osteopathy, said:
“The first and last lesson of osteopathy is anatomy.”
