Individual Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy

Are you going through a difficult time? Do you feel overwhelmed? Counselling can help – reaching out is the first step. Taking time for our own mental health and physical health is integral to achieving overall health.

Our mind and body are deeply intertwined. When we feel stressed, we are much more susceptible to anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and eating struggles, as well as physical symptoms such as lethargy, lack of focus, and various aches and pains.

Every emotion we have resides somewhere in our bodies. When we block ourselves from facing and feeling emotions, our body will start to experience symptoms. The body does not lie.

What is Psychotherapy / Counselling?

Psychotherapy commonly referred to as counselling or “talk therapy” is an opportunity for an individual, couple, or family/group to have a conversation with a trained professional to work through a personal struggle.

Psychotherapists who work holistically will address both body and mind health. They will work with you to understand old patterns that are no longer serving you and offer you tools to address your struggles.

When you understand the root of a problem and have tools to change unwanted behaviours and habits, you can enjoy life more fully. Rather than just existing, you embrace your life. Moreover, you are better prepared to weather problems that do arise with greater resilience.

Working with a psychotherapist provides a safe environment to explore, grow, and embrace all of life.

Our counsellors use a variety of approaches and techniques including Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, play therapy, trauma-informed, solution-focused, and internal family systems.
