Preparing for labour with BirthFit


BirthFit consists of integrating four main principles to help support you through your pregnancy. These principles include: Fitness, Nutrition, Mindset, and Connection. The Fitness component uses functional progression exercises, motor patterns, and breathing to help women through their pregnancy journey, labour, and postpartum stage.

BirthFit isn’t just for athletes who are also pregnant. Birthfit is beneficial for any expectant mother. This prenatal geared program leaves women feeling empowered and strong through out their pregnancy and into motherhood.

Using BirthFit for an easier labour.

Giving birth feels like an intense endurance event, sometimes lasting days, combined with maximal intensity muscle contractions (yes, the uterus is a muscle!). A mother’s body is stressed, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

BirthFit professionals are trained to guide women through prenatal and postpartum rehab using guided functional progression exercises to prepare the body for labour while easing the physical demands of pregnancy. As well as helping to restore any dysfunction that may exist during postpartum.

BirthFit is helpful with:

  • low back, hip, and pelvis pain
  • Sciatica
  • Diastasis Recti (separation of the abdominal fascia)
  • pubic symphysis dysfunction
  • fluid retention

The importance of Breathing

BirthFit combines exercises with proper breathing mechanics. Not only is this beneficial in everyday life, it is especially helpful in the final stages of pregnancy where there is less space for the lungs and other organs. Breathing techniques are a necessary tool during labour and delivery for painful contractions and assisting the progression into delivery.
