Julia Loccisano
Social Worker
Julia is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Her academic background includes studies in Psychology and Neuroscience, as well as a Master of Education in Developmental Psychology.
Over the past five years, she has worked across research and applied settings, supporting youth, adults, and families with needs related to Autism, ADHD, OCD, concurrent disorders, acquired brain injuries, genetic conditions, and transitional housing. She has facilitated developmentally informed interventions to help children and their families cope with medical procedures, illness, and hospitalization within healthcare environments such as St. Joseph’s Healthcare, McMaster Children’s Hospital, and SickKids Hospital.

Therapeutic Lens
Julia’s work is grounded in an understanding of how cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial development intersect with mental health resilience. This perspective guides her in providing compassionate, evidence-informed support across the lifespan. Julia’s practice emphasizes strengths-based care, resilience-building, and community integration, recognizing healing as part of a broader ecosystem. She aims to meet clients with compassion, curiosity, and respect for their unique stories, centering their capacities rather than their limitations. Her intention is to cultivate a safe, supportive space where individuals of all ages can feel grounded, empowered, and encouraged in their healing and growth.
Therapy for Children
When working with children, she integrates play therapy techniques, as play is the natural language of a child. It allows a safe, spontaneous, and expressive space for young clients to explore feelings, build coping skills, and make sense of their world.
Couples Counselling
In her couples work, she assists partners in navigating communication difficulties, conflict cycles, emotional or physical disconnection, trust or attachment injuries, and the rebuilding of shared meaning.
